So, it's like your car accidentally rolling backwards out of the driveway, except in the air.

I don't understand taking off at 40 mph. That sounds wrong. Even with no fuel or passengers and the elevator back it should take more than that.

Sorry about the plane but at least no one was hurt.

Moral is the same as always, be careful, more careful than you feel you need to be.
