"The next big food franchise will come out of Latin America, experts have claimed, with a number of chains eyeing up global dominance in the next few years.

Peruvian sanguches, completos and plátano mixto have been tipped as some of the foods that are likely to disrupt the fast food scene across the world.

Hispanic takes on hot dogs and doughnuts have also been cited as potential world-beaters…."

Well, my boss is from Brazil and he occasionally makes some little cheesy things and brings them into work.

I can't remember what he called them but they are well nice. I reckon they would sell well over here…

Great prediction, since "next", "big", and "come from" are all malleable. If an existing American company opens a dozen shops that include a Brazilian or Peruvian dish or two any time in the next couple three years, the prediction is accurate.

Other than that, it's not a bad guess. I hear about some food or other from South America more often over the last decade than previously. Of course, most of the South America countries really have their hands full at the moment, but that's not to say an individual couldn't head north and start something, or someone here could "appropriate" the foods.

I certainly wouldn't mind this, if the food were decent.

Crepes & Waffles! Mmmmmmmm….pretty darn good stuff as I recall. Don't know about "world domination", but sure, why not? People are always looking for something new and tasty.

Doesn't Chipotle and Qdoba come from South America? They have tacos, burritos and bowls. Seems authentic to me. They even have a dark skinned guy making fresh guacamole.
