"Hollywood has a history of honoring the veterans and fallen of US wars, perhaps because most true war stories and heroes seem larger than life. And Hollywood's true stories about feats of strength, unwavering loyalty in the face of adversity, and overcoming incredible odds are captivating. Trust us—once we compiled an incredible list of war movies based on true stories, we had trouble narrowing it down.

Our military men and women come from every corner of our nation, and each state has a favorite true war movie. Do you agree with your state's favorite?…."

'Argo' is a war movie? Surprised that there are so much love for Brad Pitt's 'Fury.'

I thought Fury was a very good movie. It is not my favorite but it is very good.
My favorite would be Battleground.

Well, that is *bananas*. What's going on with Mississippi?

I am happy they shared their methodology, more people need to do that. It's solid as far as it goes, but I'm concerned that the "first past the post" criteria they used hides some info and may be misleading. If the favorite won by 1001 votes to 1000 does that matter? 2 votes to 1?

The other unaddressed foundation is whether there's any point to asking this question on a state by state basis. Is a US state a valid demographic grouping for assessing a favorite movie?

Still, interesting idea.

Well, only Pennsylvania (and I guess Maryland) actually selected a movie about something that happened in their state :)

And the vast majority of the selections were for very recent movies (good going Kentucky for "The Great Escape").

Sorry, but that last battle scene in 'Fury' is just too unrealistic, and I don't just mean the mysterious case of the disappearing panzerfausts.

I like the Gettysburg movie, not my favorite.
