Our library just put in a new WiFi router and Internet systems (yay!), which requires a log-in acceptance protocol (meh), which apparently doesn't like the Teen Room Xbox (which otherwise has no hard-wired network connection— boo).
I, of course, discovered this after trying to log in using the new WiFi. It seemed to work okay, but then I kept getting "You do not have an Internet connection" error on the Xbox when trying to log in to Xbox Live, despite the Settings reporting that the Xbox was connected to the Internet.
So I got the library TMobile hotspot (my recent solution when the old router died), and restarted the Xbox…oops.
Now I have the Xbox showing an update screen, not actually updating anything, because apparently it still thinks it's on the Library WiFi system, but obviously it can't get past the acceptance protocol screen (but doesn't show it for me to click Yay or Nay), so it's downloading EXACTLY NOTHING. And, no, there doesn't seem to be any way to back out of this screen or get it to stop THESE STUPID AUTOMATIC UPDATES WE DON'T ACTUALLY NEED BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING JUST FINE BEFORE… Sorry, Microsofstration coming through there.
HELP!
As to why I'm asking here, as anyone well knows, Microsoft Technical Help is impossible to access and therefore of no help whatsoever, and frankly, I don't trust the otherwise random advice of Internet sites containing individuals I have no history of dealing with. You guys are different, and I'm pretty sure some of our TMP techie types know exactly what to do.
By the way, this is not for me, but for our teen patrons, who really would just like to play Star Wars Battlefront offline, same as they did before Christmas, but now can't.
Grrr… Microsuck, indeed.
(For the info, the Xbox is connected, I think, to the WiFi system, as I can't reset it to the hotspot as I had planned to do. Hence the problem.)
