I just saw this BBC documentary with my nephew yesterday afternoon and highly recommend it. Here in the states however it is limited viewings, only two days in my area.

Saw it yesterday with the wife. She calls it one of the most powerful films she can remember. Really well done. I hope there will be a way to get this for home viewing.

It had only one showing yesterday, so went and watched it with the oldest daughter.

Very well done and the theater was packed.

It'll get a general release next February. I will post an encapsulated review of TSNGO on my blog tonight, Pacific time.

Watched it on Thursday as well. Full theater at 1pm on a Thursday. I hope more showings come around

Posted a few other places her, took my dad to see it Dec 28 at 4pm. At least 1/2 filled theater. We both thought it was good, my dad disappointed it didn't cover the air war, I thought it could have covered som American involvement but that is not a distraction just a marketing point, heaven knows I read European history enough. I can't praise it enough for the soundtrack and effects.
I understand from web blogs it is going to open again in a month so keep eye open and plan to see it.

Well given the size of the Conflict and that Peter's grandfather fought in it he would have covered that aspect first.

I think that there may be more coming, which probably would cover the Air War and other aspects.

How much film is there on the air war?

There is enough archive film to cover the air war as well as other aspects of WWI. At the end of the credits there's a behind-the-scenes commentary where PJ mentioned that he reviewed hundreds of hours of film covering all aspects of the war but chose to take a narrow focused approach and portray the war from the POV of the PBI rather than a broad overview and hinted at the possibility of covering the other aspects later.

I just saw it yesterday for the first time. Brilliant film-making and an excellent work of historical importance, but man, it sure did depress me.
Maybe now we can understand how futile and stupid war really is.

I bought the dvd; was expecting it to be great. I'm now going to give a contrary opinion to the popular hype about this movie. Let me start by saying I wanted to like this film. I like well made war documentaries. There is great source material in this film which has been grossly mishandled by the director. The pacing is all wrong. The reading of veteran's quotes are so fast, one after another in machine gun fashion, that there is no time to pause and reflect on the statements being made. Also, once again the visual source material of old films is great but is put together with no rhyme or reason and doesn't link with what is being said. It was exhausting trying to watch this film. I would have liked to have seen a professional documentary film producer like Ken Burns make this film. I give this film two thumbs way down.
