Gangsta rap doesn't typically get commercial airplay, but it's a bit disingenuous that they would find the playful lyrics of 'Baby it's cold outside' inappropriate while 'Santa Baby' and 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus' get a free pass with similarly suggestive lyrics. |

BICO has received increasingly more attention each Christmas season for the last few years, so I'm not surprised. The radio stations, etc, are just trying to avoid controversy, since it hurts their business. Other people's business models see controversy as a positive thing, and that's how all this got built up. Certainly there are far worse songs, but we're just going to ignore that. I hear plenty of "oldies" on streaming services and think "why haven't they caught *that* yet?" It's as if what we're seeing is not a general attempt to clean up the music, but people looking for an interesting argument. And let's not even get started on sitcoms and movies where someone is playfully encouraged to consume a little more of something so that the encourager might gain advantage. If you want to clean all that up you have a lot of work to do. |

While I agree it's idiotic to ban the song. It's not the suggestive lyrics. Mommy kissing Santa Claus. Is about a wife kissing her husband (sorry for the spoiler) The thing some people have a problem with when it comes to BICO is the precived cohesion.

Of course it's based on missunderstanding of the song.
It's a playful back and forth, with the woman having no actual planes on going somewhere. |
