No offence taken. Actually, I was pretty snarky myself. My real concern is too much extrapolation over the course of vast amounts of time, but I am not going to argue the point. I believe global warming is real and have seen it's effects firsthand with my own eyes in the Arctic, Iceland and elsewhere. (I sometimes go by the moniker "Tundramensch" because I like the arctic so much.) But to me the question is whether or not human activity has been the culprit. I don't expect any of you to share my skepticism, and you have all shown me your reasoning, but I still have my doubts. |

But to me the question is whether or not human activity has been the culprit. I don't expect any of you to share my skepticism, and you have all shown me your reasoning, but I still have my doubts. Here's the best synthesis from 2013. (Chapter 10 of the IPCC WG1 report) PDF link And here's the US report that was released on Black Friday. link (As an aside, I'm impressed by how accessible this report is. I'm not usually a UX guy (My work computer uses Linux), but this is very nice.) |

I don't expect any of you to share my skepticism……. Actually I am a very sceptical individual. I belong to sceptical boards and subscribe to 2 sceptical magazines. However, it is an error to conflate skepticism and denialism. I'll let Michael Shermer (editor of Skeptic magazine) explain it in his succinct fashion: link Pay attention to this when you follow the arguments on these boards. |
