Ya so that is what the Zergnet click bait says while I'm on IMDB. Luckily I love scary movies so I can't help but press the link…..maybe there will be something to keep my eye on for next year.

Wasn't prepared for what I found…..disappointment. Here are the upcoming films in order of how Looper listed them:

1) An American Werewolf in London. Hey I liked the John Landis version, and now his son is making a remake

2) Firestarter. Ya, a remake of the so-so movie.

3) It: Chapter Two. Ok. so this was inevitable as the reboot was going to be made into 2 parts. But still a remake.

4) The Conjuring 3. Yawn, supposedly with werewolves

5) The Crooked Man. Ya, like The Nun it is set in the Conjuring universe.

6) Untitled Wizard of Oz horror movie.

7) Untitled Joss Whedon WW2 Horror film. Great, right on the heels of JJ Abrams Nov opening of another WW2 Nazi Horror movie. Let me guess, Nazi scientists building Zombie Super-Soldiers. Yawn.

8) The Blob. Didn't like the original but I did like the 1988 remake. Stars Samuel L Jackson. Another remake.

9) Alien Covenant sequel. Ridley Scott wants to explore the Engineers more. I thought they died out in Covenant.

10) Glass. M Night Shyamalan's sequel to both Unbreakable and Split. I was one of the few people that liked Unbreakable, but was bored with a lot of Split. If it wasn't for James McAvoy I thought it was a bit lame. He will return with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson.

11) Eli. Wow, an original idea.

12) Van Helsing reboot. Yawn.

13) Hellboy reboot. No Guillermo del Toro or Ron Perlman. Pass.

14) Us. The second movie by Jordan Peele who made Get Out. Looking forward to this.

15) Happy Death Day 2. Sequel to a movie I had no interest in.

16) 47 Meters Down: The Next Chapter. Another sequel to a movie I had no interest in.

17) You Should Have Left. An "original" movie starring Kevin Bacon. An author with writer's block takes his wife and son to an isolated retreat that begins to display supernatural activity. Sound familiar?

18) Ma. An original movie.

19) Spawn. Reboot of a terribly boring 1997 movie.

20) Crawl. An original movie directed by Alexandre Aja (2003 High Tension) and produced by Sam Raimi. A Category 5 hurricane traps a girl in her flooding house with hungry alligators threatening her. Hmmmm.

21) New Mutants. Another X-Men reboot. Yawn. Plus it had two release dates already, one in 2018 and then early 2019. Now it's expected to come out in the summer of 2019. That doesn't bode well.

22) 3 From Hell. Rob Zombie's third film about the crazy clan from House of 1000 Corpses. I thought they died at the end of Devil's Rejects.

23) Zombieland 2. Decade later sequel to the fun 2009 movie Zombieland. Seems like the original director, writers and cast are involved.

24) Grudge. Reboot of 2004's The Grudge.

25) The Turning. A somewhat reboot of The Turn of the Screw (1974, 1999 and 1961's The Innocents, and 2001's The Others, starring Nicole Kidman)

26) Pet Sematary. The 1989 version was ok, but I feel the best thing about it was the Ramones song of the same name. The writers of the remake did Starry Eyes, which was an unique idea.

27) Annabelle 3. Yawn.

28) The Curse of La Llorona. Wow and original idea! A well known Mexican ghost story, I understand.

Do you see the pattern here? Sequels, remakes, and reboots. It's understandable, and has been discussed here before.

The weird thing with horror movies are that they are usually low budget films. If they fail, no big deal. But some, like The Babbadook, Get Out, It Follows and Don't Breathe do some good business. You'd expect a bit more originality as not so much money is involved.

All this is my opinion and YMMV.

Nothing there I would bother to watch.

Winston Smith02 Oct 2018 8:39 a.m. PST

I don't watch "horror" movies. They're boring.

mjkerner02 Oct 2018 8:41 a.m. PST

Good run down, Bowman. I agree with your opinions.

11) Eli. Wow, an original idea.

Does it have anything to do with the "Book of Eli"?

There are very few individuals in Hollywood who can do anything original.

I will pass of every single one of these.

Winston Smith02 Oct 2018 2:09 p.m. PST

As long as Samuel L Jackson is still getting work.

None of the above?

Well, maybe New Mutants (that's not horror anyway) as a DVD, and the Mexican ghost story (if it's not a typical jump-scare shaky-cam gore fest).

Zombieland 2 could be interesting if it is the original cast nine years on.

catavar03 Jan 2019 1:35 p.m. PST

2, 3, 9 & 23 peak my interest.

Mithmee03 Jan 2019 2:54 p.m. PST

I as well agree with you on these.

Plus I am not a big fan of Horror movies.

Horror movies are wildly popular, and along with low production costs, appeal to filmmakers with their potentially high profit margin. I will probably watch most of them since I like horror and have a movie watcher membership (switched from Movie Pass to Stubs A-List).

You left out the best of all…Hereditary.

Bowman21 Jul 2019 6:29 a.m. PST

That came out in 2018.

Great movie, though.

I'm sad that La Llorona only stayed in theaters a few days but got ok reviews. I never got to see it.

My bad. You are correct. So I'll change my answer to Midsummer ;-)

Bowman22 Jul 2019 3:36 a.m. PST

I didn't leave out Hereditary or Midsommar. I didn't compile the list. Zergnet did.

I know, I was just rooting for it.

If you don't find horror movies scary/creepy, they are just really bad movies.

I liked the original Alien because I was 8 when I saw it and so scary.
