outed as a pit of radical leftist activists link Good reason to use DuckDuckgo for your search engine of choice. Plus, it doesn't track or log your searches. |

I like Google. Both at work & in the hobby, it's invaluable. Reasons to use Google: link So it's a little political. Isn't everything? And I don't find it's stance at all reprehensible. |

The only surprise here is that they were dumb enough to record it all and let it leak. The good folks at Google probably had the urge to post it online so people could google it….. |

Winston: "The only surprise here is that they were dumb enough to record it all and let it leak." And arrogance. They felt extremely secure about their place, perhaps too much for their own good. Dan PS. I still laugh how when I start a specific search their so-called "algorithm" changes the text options, whenever their PC and goals change. They seem to love to "guide" public opinion on topics. And the sheep have no clue … or worse, they just don't care where they are led. :) |

I guess the one that use google, even after being advised, have no problem having their lives directed and controlled. They must feel safe in the google bubble. |

advised Now there's an interesting use of the word…. I googled it but the meaning seemed different from the usage, above. I'd much rather make up my own mind than be dictated to by those with a barrow to tote. |

Private Matter | 15 Sep 2018 4:26 a.m. PST |
I detect a touch of paranoia among some of the posters on this thread. If google, facebook, twitter, or the like are you source for news you a missing out on a lot of information from both sides. If rely solely on Fox News or MSNBC for your news you are being feed very biased partial information. And if you rely on websites such as infowars or whoever the left leaning version is then you need to take off your tinfoil hats and seek professional help. Facts are getting harder to find due to all the noise out there but they do exist. Make the effort. |

drinking the kool aid I had to look this up. Kool aid appears to be cordial & I *think* just Bill is referring to a case when poisoned cordial was used? Yet one more "Americans killing Americans" tragedy. However, let's get back to Google. I'd caught a Barramundi, about a kilo heavy, & I thought I'd bake it for ourselves & some friends tonight. It was gutted & descaled. I scored the sides & rubbed it with garlic, lime & extra Virgin Olive oil. Into the scores I rubbed some Italian parsley. But how long to bake it (at 200c)???? Google got me the answer: 40 minutes. It was delicious. Thank you Google & I didn't have to poison anyone with cordial! (we did drink it with a Hunter River Chardonnay or two but everyone survived). Another Saturday night in paradise. |

Oh & CC's labelling everyone "sheep" has prompted me to find a recipe for a Lamb rump roast recipe. link This, thanks to Google, will be paired with a nice Shiraz next Saturday night when we'll be entertaining again. |
Nick Bowler | 15 Sep 2018 3:42 p.m. PST |
Ochoin, good work on the Barramundi. And to be pedantic, the Jonestown massacre used Flavour Aid, not Kool Aid. I would suggest people use google to check facts, but apparently that means I am some kind of fanatic. |

Or a sheep, Nick. Pity you're in Tassie or I'd ask you over for some of the Lamb Rump. |

That Washington Examiner article matches exactly what China had already officially announced to do a few years back (around 2013?), and to do so with OR without Google's help. I guess Google chose to help Big Brother track and crush all dissenting ideas in that country. And people in the West still go about saying this isn't true? Man, that brainwashing detergent really has some serious staying power. :) Dan PS. Maybe this next question will prompt a circuit overload on some of those still debating the merits of the rinse cycle but here it goes anyway …. If Google is helping out China on its homefront, what's there to prevent Google from helping steer opinions elsewhere in a way that helps China? (I think I smell electrical smoke coming from somewhere) |

ochoin | 16 Sep 2018 9:09 p.m. PST |
I smell electrical smoke coming from somewhere No, that's capsicum ( what some people oddly call "peppers") roasting in the oven. After they're dried to nearly a crisp, I pack them in balsamic-infused extra virgin. Great with a salad or fried up with breakfast. An easy recipe: just google it. ….although your domestic wiring may be playing up after the floods, CC. Best to get it checked out: safety first! |

I doubt it. My recipe is authentic Abruzzeze & originally given to me by the ancient nonna. You can't rely on search engines for everything SMMs, dontchaknow? Sometimes you have to rise above your cooking prejudices & hear the truth about recipes. |

don't let the sand get in your ears. And yet even more unsolicited advice. I,unlike some with narrow, even closed minds, am a free thinker. If/when Google influences an election like say the Russians did, then you might have a point. Up till then it's a search engine no matter what conspiracy fantasists may write. |
