Did the young lady on the ground go back to pulling on the shorts of opposing players, or was she cured from that habit?

THIS is why I hate Reffing girls games. They seem to have no fear and go after each other on the pitch unlike any boys games I've done….

I guess they'd called the fair sex for looks, not
style of play…

"Mean girls" indeed!

Winston Smith12 Jul 2018 3:15 p.m. PST

I seem to remember our friend Smokeyroan posting this a while back.

Cacique Caribe12 Jul 2018 5:37 p.m. PST

This was some vicious stuff, on what some claim is not a contact sport.

It really took me by surprise, and made me wonder what game that was and what really happened there. The real story behind the "story" in the gif.

PS. Is that Smokeyroan reference meant to imply something?

Winston Smith12 Jul 2018 6:12 p.m. PST

The Smokeyroan reference?
Means nothing. I just miss his misogyny and rabid incoherent sports talk. grin

I think that deserves a red card…
Smokeyroan would have called it a flop.

Cacique Caribe12 Jul 2018 6:14 p.m. PST

So was this thread also "misogyny and incoherent sports talk"?

Winston Smith12 Jul 2018 6:21 p.m. PST

Dan. Please.

The game was New Mexico vs. BYU. Not hard to find using "girl soccer player pulls hair" as search string in Google.

Why would it take you by surprise? The "gentler sex" is a male misconception.

Cacique Caribe12 Jul 2018 8:52 p.m. PST

Well, it's certainly NOT because I consider them a "gentler sex" by any means.

Even if it had been between guys, it would have still been a pretty violent reaction for just pulling on to the shorts.

PS. It's more than a bit weird how I brought this up because of the viciousness of this attack (or counterattack) in that particular sport, and yet some have jumped to conclusions about me, simply because of the gender of the players. And this has happened before on other topics. This isn't the first time people have demonstrated that focus problem.

Winston Smith12 Jul 2018 9:21 p.m. PST

Oh for crying out loud, Dan.
I mentioned Smokey simply because he had posted the same video a while back. That's all!
If you insist on taking umbrage at every single thing, then stop posting.
Sheesh. Nobody is calling you anything. But if you jump up and get offended every time a reply deviates 1% from your intent, then that's your problem. Not mine.

Cacique Caribe13 Jul 2018 3:01 a.m. PST

That's actually really funny John.

I was about to tell you the exact same thing earlier, to chill out and not get into your usual "Misogyny! Misogyny!" trigger routine*, but decided against it. And now you turn it around and say I'm the one with a knee jerk reaction? Boy.

And as for when I should post or not, I'll stop posting on TMP when I decide to, or when Bill bans me. Again, stop all the drastic talk. You should know better.

* Even when you try to pass them off as jokes.

Winston Smith13 Jul 2018 5:27 a.m. PST

I say Smokeyroan posted the exact same clip (or something like it) some time ago. Your reaction is to ask what am I accusing you of.
You are the one who started a discussion about the inadequacy of the body of the very pretty girl from the new Tomb Raider franchise. I can almost hear Smokeyroan with his "sickly, scrawny" comments.
You clutch your pearls because GIRLS play heroic parts in sci-fi franchises previously heroed up by men.

No. Nothing to see here.

My main sin is that I don't agree with you 100%. "What do you mean by that? What are you accusing me of?"
