"Thank you for all of the compliments on getting the World Cup to come to the U.S.A., Mexico and Canada," Trump wrote. "I worked hard on this, along with a Great Team of talented people."

At least it's not as bad as hosting the Olympics.
All the stadiums are already built.

This is the Canada-Mexico-USA joint bid I think.

You mean people still watch soccer? I thought it was just a fad, like hacky sack ("footbag").

Well done Canada-Mexico-USA.
The World Cup is arguably the greatest sporting event in the world & I have no doubt a North American hosting will make it one of the best Cups ever.

Never been a fan of soccer so no interest for me at all. My regret is that I'll be inundated with "news" about the dang thing for years now.

I hear you. I guess it would be very annoying for me to be bombarded with "news" about baseball or American football, both of which I regard as footling games. As they are of no interest outside the US, this is unlikely though so I will avoid this nuisance.
I hope you get through the next World Cup.

Hoping they will have some games in Kansas City

2 of the 17 potential cities are within 1/2 an hour of my house. I am definitely looking forward to this.

I know that I will make a trek to watch some Confederations Cups games as well.

Cincinnati is also in line to possibly host some of the 2026 matches ,odds are if it happens, they'll likely be group stage matches, with the big ones going to the bigger cities.

So no mention of the months of hard work from US Soccer President Carlos Cordeiro and past President Sunil Gulati?

Glad you did ,Bowman. Thanks.

Fifa are more bent than a banana.
Putin's regime, followed by No human rights Arab kingdom.
Give them the cash and you get it .
Amazingly the home/creator of football has not had it /allowed since 1966.

Huh?

Baseball is played in many countries around the world. And the MLB draws players from all these countries. Also, we Canadians play an older (and in my opinion a better version) of "American" football.

No one is interested in the NFL outside of the US? Try 40 million people watching the Super Bowl out of the 111 million total coming from foriegn viewers.
Granted, those are not World Cup numbers but that is hardly "no interest".

As for the "footling" comment, do you mean that as in "inept" or "without ability"? Look I don't enjoy all sports. Golf and basketball bore me. Does my disliking these sports make the players inept and without ability?
