I never cared for the show. I'm surprised it was brought back. Anyway, in case there are fans still out there: link Barr should have known better than to bring physical looks into her rant. And I'm sure she's not one bit surprised about the decision. Dan PS. Mark Wahlberg survived his "joke" in 2001. Then again, that was then. |
Winston Smith | 29 May 2018 11:33 a.m. PST |
She was pushing the envelope and pushed too far. Her tweets were definitely cringe worthy. I couldn't stand the old show and never watched the new ones When someone sets out deliberately to offend, they usually succeed. And I have no sympathy for them, regardless of their politics. She's a grownup. She knew what she was doing. |

I thought I read Fox was going to pick it up. |
Cacique Caribe | 29 May 2018 11:55 a.m. PST |
Cyrus Where did you read that? Dan |
Cyrus the Great | 29 May 2018 12:01 p.m. PST |
It's only speculation so far, but it's all over the internet. |
Cacique Caribe | 29 May 2018 12:11 p.m. PST |
"I thought I read Fox was going to pick it up." "It's only speculation so far, but it's all over the internet." That figures. Barr gives middle America a bad name and then the Internet finishes what she started with it's biased speculations and offhand comments. Dan |
Ed Mohrmann | 29 May 2018 2:23 p.m. PST |
Well, Fox cancelled 'Lucifer,' which had much potential which sadly was neglected by the creators of the show. Perhaps that was to make room in the lineup for 'Roseanne' who can say ?? |
Winston Smith | 29 May 2018 3:13 p.m. PST |
Fox, or anyone else, would be fools to bring her back after the fool she made out of herself with that tweet. Comparing an African American woman to Planet of the Apes? Seriously? Even the Klan would find that objectionable. Well, the "respectable" ones that is. She's out of work, and good riddance. |
Patrick Sexton | 29 May 2018 3:21 p.m. PST |
Nobody is bring her back. That was a remarkably foolish thing to state and since it cut her ties to the rest of the cast, there is no show to bring back. |
Cacique Caribe | 29 May 2018 6:01 p.m. PST |
Mark Wahlberg got a moderate amount of heat for his Janet Jackson Planet of the Apes comment in 2001: link link Then again attacking him then wouldn't have been useful for attacking others by association (or presumed association, like Fox, which has nothing to do with her). People had a different focus back then. So, yes, she deserves every little bit of whatever is coming to her, but going beyond that to judge or label an entire section of the country or voter base for her actions is downright ridiculous and just as prejudicial. But that's what some are already doing in some forums and media. Dan |
Cyrus the Great | 29 May 2018 6:02 p.m. PST |
Was away for a bit and found out about her Twitter rant. No one, in their right mind, would pick her up now. |

Agreed! She is definitely through. Dan |

No "irons" in this fire BUT… One humorless "comedienne" – Roseanne Barr – makes disgusting remarks about a woman in the Obama administration and "LOSES" her "show"… Another humorless "comedienne" – Michelle Wolf – makes (and continues to make)disgusting remarks about a woman in the Trump administration and "GETS" a "show" on Netflix… hmmm. yes. Maybe this should be taken to "The Fez". |
Cacique Caribe | 29 May 2018 10:43 p.m. PST |
Yes. It's a twisted world. It should be wrong for all to do it, or right for all to do it. But some comedians can make all the racial jokes they want, and will only become bigger stars for it. Dan |

But some comedians can make all the racial jokes they want, and will only become bigger stars for it. 1st Amendment "Rights" for *ME* but not for *thee*. Just another good justification for my actively dropping out of this empty shell of a "kulture" and finding solace in music, books, minis and a good bowl of pipe tobacco.

Me too! I've been dropping a lot of "mainstream" things lately. I can only take so much hypocrisy. Dan. With all my health "problems", I've recently decided to take up my bowl of 'baccy once or twice a night again… Seems to calm the nerves and "salve" the soul. Back to listening to Light Opera/Musicals and reading history/historical novels/classics again. Reverting to my "younger" years… Ignoring the chatter and hurly-burly of all this semi-imposed nonsense… "Books,'Baccy, Music and Minis"… (Wonder if I could get away with "trying" to paint that slogan on a "Hus" mini banner!)

Another humorless "comedienne" – Michelle Wolf – makes (and continues to make)disgusting remarks about a woman in the Trump administration and "GETS" a "show" on Netflix… First of all, it's an apples and asbestos comparason. Rosanne was an impromptu twitter rant, the other was a during a roast – where the job of the MC is to make the guests uncomfortable by speaking truth to power. Remember Colbert '06? By the way, this is what Michelle said: We are graced with Sarah's presence tonight. I have to say I'm a little star-struck. I love you as Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid's Tale. Mike Pence, if you haven't seen it, you would love it.Every time Sarah steps up to the podium I get excited, because I'm not really sure what we're going to get — you know, a press briefing, a bunch of lies or divided into softball teams. "It's shirts and skins, and this time don't be such a little bitch, Jim Acosta!" I actually really like Sarah. I think she's very resourceful. She burns facts, and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Like maybe she's born with it, maybe it's lies. It's probably lies. And I'm never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders, you know? Is it Sarah Sanders, is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is it Cousin Huckabee, is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? Like, what's Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women? Oh, I know. Aunt Coulter. Unfortunatly, the "Liberal Media" decided to thow Michelle under the bus in a fit of fake outrage because they didn't like getting tagged as well later on in the roast. You guys are obsessed with Trump. Did you used to date him? Because you pretend like you hate him, but I think you love him. I think what no one in this room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of you. He couldn't sell steaks or vodka or water or college or ties or Eric, but he has helped you. He's helped you sell your papers and your books and your TV. You helped create this monster, and now you're profiting off of him. If you're going to profit off of Trump, you should at least give him some money, because he doesn't have any. Secondly,
1st Amendment "Rights" for *ME* but not for *thee*. Where is the government censoring Rosanne Barr? If it's a "violation" of the first amendment for her to not be entitled to a platform by a private entity, what about NFL players during the anthem? |
Winston Smith | 30 May 2018 7:17 a.m. PST |
The 1st Amendment does not apply here. Read what it says. "CONGRESS shall make no law*…. abridging the freedom of speech or if the press…" Nowhere does it say that employers may not. I'm sure that Rosanne's contract had a "morals clause" with some leeway on how to interpret that by the employer. Ditto football players. They are employed by the NFL. And it's none of any politicians business. Of course that never stopped them before from shooting their mouths off. * I often wish that the 1st Amendment had stopped after those first 5 words. But no……… |
Martin From Canada | 30 May 2018 7:20 a.m. PST |
The 1st Amendment does not apply here. Read what it says. Winston, I agree with you that the Rosanne situation isn't a violation of the first amendment. It was charared that implied that. |
Winston Smith | 30 May 2018 7:22 a.m. PST |
As for Fox picking up Rosanne, I Googled "Will Fox…" And the first thing that popped up was "…pick up Rosanne." So the speculation is out there. Scrolling through speculation hits, I came across this. link Obviously it's satire and a hit piece on both. I will give 10-1 odds against, particularly with the new Murdoch sons in charge. Nobody is dumb enough to pick it up now. |
Winston Smith | 30 May 2018 7:25 a.m. PST |
Martin, and I was agreeing with you! When is the last time that happened?
By the way, Michelle Wolf's "employers" have no problem with what she said. Ditto Joy Behar. If they did, both would be gone. |

28mm Fanatik ejaculated - How's that gonna work if they want to keep the show's title? Worked pretty well for "Valerie" when they fired Valerie Harper from the shows she created, and called it "The Hogan Family"* and replaced her with Sandy Duncan. *The remaing actors and writers called it "Throw Momma From the Train" privately.
