… twice as much sea level rise by 2100 than previously expected.

"A study using satellite data found that not only are sea levels rising — but the rate is accelerating.

Steve Nerem, a professor of aerospace engineering sciences at the University of Colorado-Boulder and lead author on the paper, analyzed 25 years of satellite data to calculate how fast sea levels are rising as a result of climate change. He found that sea levels are currently growing by 3 mm/year, but this isn't a steady growth. The rate is accelerating by 0.08 mm/year every year. It might not seem like much, but it picks up year after year and in the long-term, it can end up making a big difference…."

Oh boy, this thread will not end well.

Seems we should be looking at dredging the oceanic trenches. Or at least remove all the marine life, all they do is poop in the water anyway.

Has Gilligan been moving the lobster traps again?

I really doubt this.

Wasn't there a thread here in the last few weeks with a pro-global warming scientist who admitted that it wasn't rising as much as they had originally predicted?

They need to put their heads together and come up with a unified public panic message. :)

Maybe some good prices on beachfront property

Now that's what I'm talking about! You read my mind, 14Bore.

Dan,

The thread you are remembering was a scientist presenting data that 3 points in the Indian Ocean had less rising than predicted based on historic measurements. However, there was a post in yet another thread pointing out that sea level rise is not even around the world, and in fact that global warming would see sea levels decrease around Greenland. It is a very complex area.

It's probably time to get hitched to with members of the Marsh or Gillman families.

LOL. I'm surprised the hardcore believers haven't found a way yet to start growing gills. :)

Amusingly in the past in SF growing/obtaining gills was a modification sought by people in the stories.

If that modification became available tomorrow, quite a few people would sign up immediately.

Maybe that is where research should be going instead of funding computer models on climate change…

Yup I would love to have gills.

But I am a Pisces as well.
