I think Dan's movie example is closer to what is happening in this story.

I'm guessing wealthy individuals, in the future, will be growing and maintaining clones of themselves for organ harvesting. This will give the general public the heebie-jeebies and doing the same with animals may be more palatable to some.

Sounds creepy, until you suffer from end stage liver failure and don't have a twin handy. Then you may feel differently. I feel this will become an inevitability.
