My story's the same as bandit's Then I saw him in other roles in movies pre- and post-'Alien'; 'Cool Hand Luke', 'Escape from New York', and 'Paris, Texas'. He was even in an episode of 'The Andy Griffith Show'. I always liked his "folksy", laid-back style.

He was also a veteran of WWII, serving as a cook on an LST in the Pacific Theater, specifically during the Battle of Okinawa.

Godspeed, Mr. Stanton, and thank you VERY, very much for sharing your talent with us and for your service to our country. I salute you, sir.

Don't forget Repo Man!

Really, too many to list. I always looked forward to seeing him in anything he did. His understated acting style raised the level of even mediocre films.

Oh,one more--he was in the very first episode of "Combat!"

Indeed, a great character actor. He was still acting well in the new Twin Peaks show on Showtime. RIP

I missed this. And I'll miss him.

Don't forget "Pretty in Pink" as Molly Ringwald's depressed Dad.
