A Buddhist organisation has called for a gaming company to stop selling a street fighter-styled game titled "Fight of God", in which depictions of Jesus and Buddha battle each other, saying the game engendered misunderstanding and entailed disrespectful acts in regards to Buddhist symbols… link |

Lol. At least it sounds like they are asking nicely and appealing to reason and compassion, instead of starting a massive hostile social media campaign calling for the complete boycott of the company (the way a snowflake group would ask) or, worse yet, threatening to behead people, the way that the psychotic fanatics of a certain other prophet like to do, loudly, publicly and in great numbers. But it's a wasted effort. The thing they should already know is that if the game designers are genuinely irreverent to religion, they will be equal opportunity offenders and won't be afraid to be disrespectful to ALL of them (including the prophet with the fanatics that get so bent out of shape). And are the ones asking this of the company going to tell their own members to treat the symbols of other faiths the way they would want theirs to be treated? You can't just say, be nice to the symbols of OUR faith and continue disrespecting those of others because that simply says OURS are more worthy of respect than those of others. Because, when you do that, you are asking for a whole lot of harassment from everyone else you just called inferior. Either way, it simply won't work, specially now that they have made it so public and now risk a public battle of wills. And they must surely know that already. Which brings us to the real question … why go through the stunt? I didn't even know about this potentially divisive issue until they made a big public deal about it in the news. Which now makes it potentially divisive. Who is benefiting from the antagonism that will now come of this stunt? The media? Someone else? Dan PS. "Humanity's Sense of Self-Respect Endangered!" Well, If humanity ever had self-respect, I think we are now long past the time when we could have done something to safeguard it. :) |

Note that the game includes "…Jesus fighting Buddha and Zeus taking on the Viking god Odin." They left out Allah. Guess they were afraid. |

Maybe it was because Allah was not really a god, just an ancient alien. I'm going to hide in the bunker now and wait for them to come for me. |

Lol. Ancient alien, I love it. Dan Bill: "They left out Allah. Guess they were afraid." That's absolutely right. And if they go around insulting only the groups who won't bite back, that also makes them nothing but cowardly bullies. I think they should grow a pair and either insult all of them or none at all. :) |

The term Bill is discretion… |

Hmm. Or maybe the reason is because the designers favor that one desert deity*, and so the rest are simply fair game. Dan * Or "ancient alien", for VCarter. :) |

Ha! I guess the secret to creating religious outrage is out*. What might have been resolved locally is now a worldwide matter for all ignorant parties to jump in and have a part in the growing outrage fest. Or maybe the other religions don't want to feel left out and are now getting publicly outraged over things they laughed at before. Well, either way, I think we'll just sit back and see which deity has the most followers with thin skins. Like I said, if humanity ever had self-respect, we are now long past the point to do anything to protect it. Dan * So, ask yourselves, who is benefiting from all this unnecessary grief and re-kindling of hatred now that the word and the images are spreading far and wide? |

I might point out that God, Allah, and Yahweh are the same Being. Just worshiped in different ways. P.S. I don't recheck posts very often. I don't post often. Basically, there is no use in remonstrating with me. Have a nice day. |

Lol. Tell that to all the crazy followers! I suspect that the number of threats on your life will vary greatly depending on which worship "variant" group you are brave enough to say that to. Dan |
