Adam West (The REAL Batman) has left us. The follow on remakes/reboots have given some entertainment and collected much money, but to me are just cartoonish shadows of the original TV series.

As many type-cast actors, West was limited in his field but wore his cape well.

RIP … and Wham! Zapp! Ka-Pow!

I wonder if it's even possible to calculate how much he influenced each of our lives: the way we appreciate Batman, the ability to un-selfconsciously enjoy an imaginative story, the way we play, the way we see good and evil, virtue.

His Batman was hyper-competent, but not arrogant, always dynamic, but consciously restrained by morality *and* manners.

There's a whole lot of people who made a lot more money, were a lot more famous, much more powerful who can't say they left the world a better place, as Adam West has.
