The Beatles released their eighth album of their career:

My older brother, the rock aficionado in the family (my older sister was into country and pop), would have just turned 18 at that time, and I distinctly remember that he had this album in his collection when he left for Vietnam a little more than two years later. I don't know if he still has it, but the last time I saw it the condition of the cover was well-worn, and I can imagine the record itself was in the same, if not worse shape after many, many years of enjoyment.

I was two at the time of the release, but I eventually inherited the title of "family rock aficionado – second class", and I also acquired a deep appreciation of this iconic album.

So, what about everyone else here? What are your memories of "Sgt. Pepper", and where is your album now?

peace

My memories of Sgt Pepper was that the Beatles were a bunch of pompous blowhards. That was on first hearing. It went downhill from there.

I thought it was kind of interesting in the same way
ther first film was interesting.

Kind of 'here's a thumb in yer eye !' insouciance

Never owned a copy of it. Heard it,though,as a teen, and the parts of it used in the movie "Yellow Submarine".

What's with all the negative waves, man?

I love the record. Have both mono and stereo lps, and also on CD.

Overrated album and an overrated group.

Loved it when it was first released and played it until the grooves in the record turned into troughs.

Can't stand to play it now because the lyrics just seem so depressing in retrospect.
