I never liked this song. Then, in that livestream I've been listening to, this version appeared. Excellent…….

Hmm. Not bad.

I always liked the sort of David Lynch/Roy Orbinson vibe of the original

There can be only one…Chris Isaak's!

Another vote for Chris Isaak's

The OP version is OK and nicely done but lacks the emotional punch of the original.

This one's pretty good youtu.be/cncoJB_C-m0

While this version is competently handled, I agree with Zoneofcontrol. It misses the emotional impact of Isaaks' version. Her voice is nice, but affectatious. Isaaks' voice exudes pain and confusion.

Here's a bit o' trivia re: Chris Isaak's version…

Everyone was all set for the video shoot and Helena Christensen (the female model and former Miss Universe and Miss Denmark) was late. Like HOURS late. When she finally arrived, they did the shoot, take after take after take (y'know, all the close-ups and angles and whatnot, takes a long time.)

With all the forced intimacy and chemistry of the shoot, Chris Isaak was absolutely smitten and head over heels by the middle of the shoot and was trying to put the make on Helena through the last half. She wanted nothing to do with him, and as soon as she was done with her parts, she promptly left.
