It has a typically crap King ending. He's only ended two novels well out of the c. dozen I wasted my time on: Running Man, and The Stand. |

As a matter of fact, I gave up after The Stand. It appeared to me that he ended up with a bunch of characters he didn't know what to do with,and so just sent them off into the desert to die. Turns out,that's just what happened--he admitted as much in On Writing. He'd decided, for no particular reason,to write a novel in which he would introduce a new major character in every chapter. By the end,of course, he had too many,so. . . He also said he was drinking a case of beer and smoking an ounce of pot a day during this period. So that may have had something to do with it. |

He needs to stick to the formula for good endings then, because killing off a bunch of characters is not de facto a crap ending. He nailed it. But Running Man has his best ending. |

C'mon. The Long Walk, The Mist, The Shining. Even if not thrilled with the ending you hada be thrilled getting there! Just saying. |
