Sisters Mahsa and Marjan Vahdat,of whom I must confess total ignorance until an hour ago,when I heard a documentary about persecuted musicians around the world, on the BBC World Service, "Dying For a Song". I've been hunting down their music since. Try a sample.

Very nice, thanks Hafen.

I must say, while the singing is very nice, the Ney player that starts them off is brilliant! It's a difficult instrument to get a good tone out of. Similar to Shakuhachi but with a weirder way to get the tone.

Interesting. Doubt I'll be trying it,though. I've got clarinet and bagpipes sitting there,looking at me accusingly .
