They were screwing the U. The three announcers basically repeated it the entire second half.
8 calls in a row to start the second half, taking away Miami baskets or giving points to UVA. UVA starts the 2nd with a 14-0 run for a 13 point lead.
Miami fights back, basically battling the officials, ties the game, and then has a winning 2 and a 3 negated by the refs after the fact. OT, UVA leads by two, Canes tie then sink a jumper while fouled for the lead….Whistle! After the play travelling call! Finally hit a 3 to lead by 1 and hold on.
It was bad, nazrat. Announcers, who were admittedly pro UVA, started calling out every bad call. That is rare.
Pissed me off. That was the officiating Duke and UNC get.
In a game where the winner gets into the NCAA Tourney and moves into 5th place, and the loser falls back into 9th place and tourney hopes fade, no way the refs should intervene.
Hell, Miami should get the benefit of the doubt! Undermanned, rebuilding year team (only 8 players) full of freshman, their only point guard suspended, and they are 9-6 in the top conference this year, winning 9 of their last 11 conference games. Underdog story, should get repped, not screwed.
