I learned today that Stuart McLean, Canadian broadcaster, journalist and story teller for the CBC died on Wednesday. So I'm late to the party, but apparently nobody else noticed either. Stuart hosted the Vinyl Cafe, carried Sundays on our local NPR station in Seattle. He was perhaps the greatest storyteller I've ever heard, who generously allowed others to share their stories on his show. His musical guests were unabashedly Canadian. I had the good fortune to see his live Christmas show in Seattle in 2015, and it was just terrific. Gone from melanoma at 68. He is simply irreplaceable.

From documentaries in the late sixties and seventies to the Vinyl Cafe, Mr.MacLean has been part of most of my life. The world will seem more harsh and crude without his quiet and gentle humour to buffer the corrosive discourse of modern times. He will be missed. God's speed Mr. MacLean!

Learned about this while I was on vacation in Mexico in Feb. Very sad, he was a fabulous writer and storyteller.
