that is one long film.

Beautifully shot.

About 30 minutes too long.

It's long because it's Scorsese's passion project. I'd like to see it. The trailer makes it look like 'The Last Samurai' meets James Clavell's 'Shogun,' but it isn't of course. Still, it can't be bad being a Scorsese movie.

It is – without giving away too much I hope – a complete steal of Graham Greene's "The Power and the Glory" transferred to a different location and 3 centuries earlier.

It is almost nothing like The Last Samurai or Shogun! It is set in Japan. That's about it.

I read a review that said "no matter how bad things get Andrew Garfield's hair stays wonderful". And it is true.

BTW : I'm not saying "don't see it", it's a pretty solid film, it's worth seeing, I thought that Adam Driver and Issey Ogata were very good, Ogata in particular. Shinya Tsukamoto comes close to stealing the film.

But – it's a tad drawn out in places.
