Congratulations to Kirk Douglas. He's 100 today. A centenarian. Who would have imagined it, back when he had his massive stroke? He despaired, and almost shot himself, banged the handgun on a tooth, and it hurt, and he took stock at the irony of waiting to blow his brains out because of a hurting tooth, and reconsidered … and now he's a hundred years old……………..

I'm gonna have a little film fest here at work today. Spartacus and then The Vikings.

Important guy. Gave us a great example of manliness back when that wasn't a bad thing. Defined Ned Land for all time.

Yup, I would expect TCM to have a Kirk day.

Quite a few great movies.

Nice to celebrate someone being alive in 2016 rather than adding a post on the Obituary Board !

I just had a scary thought. When if Kirk Douglas is necromancer? The reason for all the celebrity deaths this year is because he draws power from their deaths to keep him self alive?

Great War Ace12 Dec 2016 6:16 p.m. PST

If so, his magic isn't very good. He looks like hell……………

We better all hope we look so good by then.

Ironic,in a way,that in his first film,he played a wimp:

m.imdb.com/title/tt0038988

Of course, he played other tortured or damaged characters during a long career. I remember an interview where he talked about a conversation with John Wayne, who asked him why he took such roles. He was a bit nonplussed, and said something like "Uh,because I'm an actor?"

He wondered about that exchange, until it hit him: "He thought he was really John Wayne!"
