Sing Street. Many of you in the UK & Ireland probably already know of its greatness. No one I know in the US has seen it beyond my family.

If you take John Hughes' 1980s highschool movies and combine them with the modern day musicals (Once, Begin Again) then you have Sing Street. An instant classic for anyone who loves 80s movies, music and clothing.

Out on Cd, on demand or Netflix. Well worth your time. Enjoy.

Was just release on Netflix, Thanks i'll give it a try.

Dr. Strange was indeed fantastic, especially in 3D.

Deadpool is simply the best super hero movie made so far, and I never even read one book of his or was a fan in any way.

Good to know, I'll have to consider Dr. Strange.

As an aside, "Arrival" was quite overblown in my opinion. Quite predictable. Definitely a rental.

So far Hacksaw Ridge.

Deadpool was a hoot. Saw it three times. Hell or High Water was one of the best crafted movies I've seen in the past decade. And Sing Street warmed my heart.

Can't think of any new movies this year I've seen except Deadpool. But that movie is so awesome. I don't need any other movies from this year.

My favourites of 2016 so far: Hateful Eight, The Revenant, The Nice Guys, and I, Daniel Blake.

Great War Ace02 Dec 2016 4:28 p.m. PST

… going to be, Hacksaw Ridge. Because I am about to go see it at the movie theater on Sheppard AFB, with my chaplain son (who will be shipping out to Qatar sometime next spring; his mom and I are visiting his family just now). And because it will have been the only movie I've seen so far this year. :P …………………

Great War Ace02 Dec 2016 10:04 p.m. PST

Saw it: Incredible film. Anyone who says a bad thing about Mel Gibson after Hacksaw Ridge will get me to mention the film. I think he redeemed himself with this one. Here's a page on the real and reel comparisons. link In some ways, telling the real story would have been unbelievable. The movie is actually toned down!

The two movies I've seen this year…

That's a nice sample size. I've seen 61 so far this year (I have a blog). Both 'Deadpool' and 'Strange' are good.

My favorite of the year so far is 'Captain America: Civil War.' 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' or 'La La Land' may change that but I doubt it.

La La Land.

Then Doctor Strange, followed by Eight Days a Week.

But then, those are the ONLY new films I've seen at theatres this year. I'm hard to please and Hollywood doesn't make many films I'm motivated to go and see on the big screen.

Old Wolfman22 Dec 2016 7:34 a.m. PST

Haven't been to any this year, though I did catch one or two on DVD.

Captain Gideon22 Dec 2016 8:34 a.m. PST

I'll add Rogue One to my list.

Mithmee22 Dec 2016 1:09 p.m. PST

Same here Rogue One was one of the best Star Wars movies ever.
