The death of Auschwitz survivor Elie Wiesel has reminded me to post about an exhibition which is permanently housed above the public library in Windermere, Cumbria, UK. It's called "From Auschwitz to Ambleside" and tells the story of 300 Jewish children who were liberated from the camps and came to the English Lake District for rehabilitation. It's small, but well organised and includes a short film with interviews with some of the children, now in their eighties. It's very moving and the interviews are truly uplifting. If any of you are ever in the area, add it to your to-do list. Details here – ldhp.org.uk |

Didn't know about this – will have to try and have a look on my next trip to The Lakes. |
