I saw Warcraft today and it was not so great, not totally Horrible but still pretty lame {on Par with Mad Max :) } CGI is Good but the acting and plot is weak and some of it makes no sense(at least to me) tried to make Orcs likable but did not succeed for the most part. female leads motivation was very confusing to me. male lead Travis Fimel was just Ragnar with more armor (no acting stretch there) i was looking forward to it but ultimately disappointed.
On the flip-side when I got home I watched Tomorrowland and that was rather an enjoyable Kid s movie (had a bit to much violence in it ) but still I enjoyed that.

Bad movie made based on a computer game? who knew?

45thdiv11 Jun 2016 3:44 a.m. PST

So, is it better than the movie "DOOM?"

I'll second your vote on Tomorrowland! :)

The Orcs are "likeable" because in the video game, they are a playable race and therefore "likeable." Sounds like the director/writers did not translate that well to the screen. I had no illusions about this movie having a chance of being good. It was based on a video game. That should have been the very first red flag. wink

OBTW, nothing could be as bad as the Wing Commander movie.

Wing commander had some nice ships and I like parts of Doom but as far as bad movies go for something new stay far away from M Knight shame a lame a ding dong The Visit you know a movie is bad when you want to kill the good guys

But the Chinese audience loved it and thats what counts.

I liked it.

I played several Orc characters and they all were smart and friendly.

Right up to them sticking a very big sword into someone.

Planning on watching it tomorrow.

Oh and Lothar ends up becoming the Lich Lord.

Plus I already know the story.

I don't understand the dislike for this movie. I couldn't disagree more about the acting. I thought it was extremely well acted given the subject matter. They could easily have phoned it in and they didn't. I went into this not knowing what to expect and was entertained for two hours. Oscar worthy? No. But it's a movie about World of Warcraft. Different strokes for different folks. One of the guys I went with has played the game for years and was kind of meh…would have thought it would be the other way around.

Mithmee12 Jun 2016 8:41 a.m. PST

Well that could because this movie is based more around the initial Warcraft game and not World of Warcraft.

Totally different games and your friend might have only played World of Warcraft.

Anthon12 Jun 2016 9:23 a.m. PST

He played both versions. But I know what you mean. It's possible he built it up in his head over 20 years and hoped for more. When Jackson released Battle of Five Armies, it wasn't what I was looking for after having it in my head for four decades.
Wood needed.
Take care all.

Well it was bad as a movie. My wife quite enjoyed it and she's never played Warcraft or WoW.

Had the feel of Azaroth even if the Orcs seemed a little big.

Some in jokes to keep the fans happy – the wizard did get to cast a 'sheep' spell.

Was it the best place to start? Probably not, possible with the Scourge attack would have been better.

Oh and Lothar ends up becoming the Lich Lord.

No. That was Arthas.

Mithmee13 Jun 2016 1:05 p.m. PST

Nice to see that they did not make the Orcs stupid like GW has.

They are still very much into War but they are not stupid.

The Chinese love franchises that have jumped the shark and critically panned like 'Transformers' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean.'

Maybe in the inevitable sequel the Orcs can speak zhong-guo-hua.

I'm not a warcraft fan and haven't watched the movie but from what hard core warcraft fans tells its pretty good. Unlike other games to movies where the movies have nothing to do with the games(hitman, max Payne ect)

This is made by fans for fans and Bleeped text everybody else. And i respect that.

Seems like the sort of thing custom-made for Netflix and beers.
