Ultracrepidarianism is making authorative statments outside your field of knowlage.

Again I pull you into the Norwegian Siberian Husky world.

The Siberian Husky is a very healthy breed. Only deseases with any marked insidence are eye related(sevral types)

Now these deseases can be screened. In many european countries Siberians huskies used for breeding have to be screened. Sevral deseased including glaucoma can be screened for.

But The norwgian racing husky people do not want it(well most of them) While the show husky people have always done so.

In the lead for the anti screeing is a highly educated woman, He has both MD and PHD in medicin. dealing with female repoduction. She does down to africa to help african women with birth ect.

So she has "authority" When it comes to medical stuff. So naturally people listen to her. Even tho she has absolutly no trainig in eyes not for humans nor dogs.

So her arguments are
1. Sevral screeing test i use for repoduction are unrealiable therefor eye screening on dogs are also unrealiable.
2. You can't trust the recomendations of autheristed eye screeners becasue they make money on screening dogs.

So lots of people listen to her. Others simply claim that it's not a problem(even tho my Fiance compiled data from all scandinavian countires and out of the 4000 or so dogs screened about 13% had some marks on their eyes….)

Some claim screeing dosn't help. How ever after it became standard in denmark to eye screen Samoyeds and they bred based on resualts in just a few generations. The number of dogs with eye problems have plumeted.

The world, dog and human, has no shortage of idiots. Or those who will listen to them.

Nice new word/term, Gun. Thanks for that. "New" to me.

Just look at the comments on the gorilla at the zoo tragedy, link for a veritable parade of ultracrepidarians….

I have indulged myself in ultracrepidarianism, aaagain. But it is Bowman's fault, for using thread necromancy….
