Okay, I was tidying up the files on my PC, like you do, and discovered something: I have a LOT of MOBA (multiuser online battle arena) type games on my PC. Just looking at the icons on my desktop alone I have eight! That's way too many, so I needed to cut down to one. But which one?
Then a fun idea struck me: I have eight, the exact number needed for a good tournament! This was born the idea for the MOBAtational, a double-elimination tournament to see which game wins the privilege of staying on my PC!
Our contestants are (In the order they were installed):
1. World of Tanks
2. World of Warships
3. League of Legends
4. Heroes of The Storm
5. DOTA 2
6. War Thunder
7. Starcraft 2
8. Smite
Each round two games will go head to head and be judged on three criteria, with the criteria changing each round. Each criteria will be judged on a 1-10 scale, with the best two out of three causing the winner to go on and the loser being dragged off to the loser's bracket.
For round one the criteria are:
AESTHETICS: How good does the game look?
NEWBIE FRIENDLINESS: how easy is the game to pick up for beginning players or old farts (like me)?
MONEYGRUBBING: how shamelessly does the game try to force you to part with your cash?
The matches for round 1 are:
World of Tanks (#1) vs. Smite (#8)
World of Warships (#2) vs. Starcraft II (#7)
League of Legends (#3) vs. War Thunder (#6)
Heroes of the Storm (#4) vs DOTA 2 (#5)
Who will come away on top? Place your bets (in Quatloos only, course!) now!
