We heard something 'meowing' the other night, and we're lucky we didn't go out to 'rescue the kitty'…

Our neighbor tells us they 'got rid' of a fox last year, but now she's come back to have her litter. So we have fox mom and fox babies.

Meanwhile, some bird has built a nest in my office window (outside, of course). I think she's hatched an egg – I think I heard cheep-cheep-cheep, but only once. She gets very upset when we mow the lawn. And she makes noise if my office is too loud.

And now, a skunk has just sprayed. Must be close, because I can smell it from indoors, all windows closed.

Maybe the fox scared the skunk. And will the fox get the bird and her chick(s)?

I don't live in the wilderness!

Bootiful "upstate" New York!!!

(I "exist" in Kingston, NY… "First Capital of the State of New York" – former "Esopus", "Wiltwyck"… in ANY language -the place where hopes and dreams go to die.)

Only place on earth where "Foxes" are ugly!

evil grin

Utica NY-where I once looked out my window(basement apartment)and saw a cat, a squirrel and a skunk looking at each other and not moving-I went and put The Good, The Bad and the Ugly sound track on and..poof, they were gone.

We have a coil of left over fencing(still attacked to the fence in a corner) And I've noticed the dogs are very intrested in them, and I could never see why, But today when sarek was trying to get "into" the coil I heared baby bird chirping

Some would say Saratoga is the wilderness except when the track is open.

The "skunk" smell could be the fox. Fox musk smells exactly like skunk spray, just nowhere near as strong. The fox is probably marking her territory all around your house. Lucky you! grin

We have seen foxes, coyotes, skunk, raccoon, possum, groundhog, chipmunks and deer in the yard. Most chilling sound I have ever heard was a raccoon yelling at a skunk under my bird feeder about 10fee from my house – 6 feet from my grill.

I hate possums. Ugly beasts. So ugly they could be spawn of Chaos.

I have possums and wallabies, and rarely a bandicoot. My possums are super cute!

All I get are rabbits and birds.

I blame the sudden abundance of squirrel tails (unattached) in my back yard to the foxes. grin
