..or a television series. In my opinion Mark Lawrence's Broken Empire trilogy blows Game of Thrones away. Oh and the writer finished to books. If you are looking for a gritty and often dark fantasy series you can do no better than the Jorg Ancrath the Prince, King and Emperor of Thorns.
