A man held in pretrial detention for five months on a drug trafficking charge was released yesterday after a laboratory found that the white powder discovered in his room was a cleaning substance and not crystal meth or cocaine, as the police who arrested him assumed.

However, he is unable to sue the court or the police because he cannot afford a lawyer, he said.

Probably just as well he's no threat to them. He's lucky they didn't frame him up to cover their own incompetence.
