Heroscape: Road to the Forgotten Forest

It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Any good, fun ww2 board games that are very easy to learn, modest play time (1-2 hours) and pretty cheap?

Something suitable for an 8 year old in particular :)

Memoir 44.

kyote, how many cops are getting shot in traffic stops these days? Not meaning any political comment. Just sayin'.

Definitely Memoir 44. It is a board game, but it comes with plastic figures & terrain pieces, so it has the feeling of a non-board wargame. & all the scenarios are well laid out so you can just sit down & play. & there are a number of expansions for the different theaters.

Because the game uses cards for activation, there may be some reading necessary.

AH's Battle of the Bulge may seem simple, but for an
8-year old, I'd suggest something else.

That game has a LOT of subtleties.

Memoir 44 is a good suggestion…

Memoir 44! gave that to my 9 yr old grandson this past Christmas. He and my son have had a blast playing it.
Grandson cleaned Dad's clock in the first two scenarios!
That'll teach him for getting away from the hobby!

For a 8 year old I would have to go with Memoir 44.
