Crank those speakers up.

I love that cover – respectful of the original (which was pretty much a metal song to begin with, subject-wise), and musically powerful.

Plus in a surprise move, it's also turning a whole generation on to S&G's music.

Thanks for that, I just bought it off iTunes. Because I'm too old and outdated to do it any other way. Off to pick up my wife from where she's working, this will be on.

Lugal, I don't know a whole lot about the definition of metal, but was S&G's original really metal or almost? How?

Thanks Waco Joe

Ditto, lugal is probably referring to the themes expressed in the song. Things like the struggling of the individual against the soul crushing of the man/machine/society. Actually most good music, classic rock, soul, blues, folk, bluegrass, et. al. all share some of that.

Except for Brocountry, that stuff sucks. wink

When I saw the OP, I was determined not to like some second rate rip off of S&G's classic.

I love it. Thanks.

(video clip was pretty good too).

Perfectly reasonable cover – probably more silky strings than the original, which makes it a little saccharine. But, yeah, fine.

This, a bluegrass instrumental version, is rather more of a radical departure from the original : YouTube link

I like Disturbed.

My granddads were born in the 1890's.

Thanks Waco Joe, I liked it. I remember the original very well and no, I'm not your grand dad, sonny. Lol, thanks again.
