Go online. Get a college application. They all ask if you have been arrested. Show that to your child and say: "Tommy how will you fill out that in 4 years?" And don't think that Mr. Raybin can fix it by getting your record expunged. Schools often ask about expunged charges.

"I didn't know that!" Well it's true.

If you learn a few self-defense techniques you can avoid embroiling yourself in the criminal justice system. You can stay out of the emergency room, or at least visit the hospital as an out-patient.

Let's start with some basics.

If you do not impress consequences on your child they will never learn that the world imposes consequences. Well, the police are currently looking for he little **** who killed four people while driving drunk and only got 10 years probation because he was too rich to understand the consequences of his actions. Affluenza. But, yes, this is for regular people like you and me and our kids. Lindsay Lohan and her ilk are members of a special class that need not worry about such mundane matters.

Any damn fool can learn from his own mistakes.
It takes a wise man to learn from those of others.

There are few wise men around and they show up on January 6 and are gone the next day.

Merry Christmas!!

Why would Tommy even consider college? If you are teaching tour young men about protecting themselves, you may want to look at the rape hysteria culture on college campuses and the stories of young men who have had thier lives destroyed by false rape allegations.

That's s pretty good article and is very well written. I think I've been very lucky with my three (now all adults in late 20s, early 30s). Thanks for posting it for us, David.
