The attached article also appeared in yesterday's local newspaper. A really great story: link

Glad to see him sending the flag to a relative of one of the capturing US troops

A real class act.

Yes agree.

Out of interest – the article mentions that it is a naval flag – I thought it was a Reichskreigflagge rather than necessarily a naval flag…?

Many years ago I bought exactly the same type of flag from an old Vet (he was selling a lot of stuff and the flag was included). I saw him several months later and he was disappointed to have let the flag go – he had liberated it from a town hall in France during the push to the Rhine. So I gave him the flag back – I personally wasn't overly keen on having the flag with a dirty great swastika in the middle – and I let him keep the money…he had my respect and it was the least I could do.

Very cool! It's the season for giving and this guy seems to be a class act!

Yes a very cool and classy act, by all concerned.

Merry Christmas and my God look after all the Servicemen deployed to protect us all.

I'll second that! I'd also include Service women, and the families of same who pay a price with the continued absence of their loved ones, and to first responders – many of whom are placed in unnecessary danger for just trying to do their jobs protecting us all.
