In a few weeks my brother and I are donning our Jim Brown jerseys and going to see a Browns game in Cleveland. While we see a lot of CFL action, this is our first live NFL game and we've got some pretty good seats and warm clothes. We're going to be at the downtown Westin Saturday through Monday and I thought I'd ask here if anyone has any restaurant recommendations – pretty much anything goes, from the fairly exotic (food, that is) to a sports bar with good wings.

Are there any downtown-ish game stores or other attractions people recommend? The last TMP threads on game stores in Cleveland are about nine years old, so I thought I'd ask again. I'll look into the USS Cod as a visit too, unfortunately Dayton probably won't fit the schedule.

Thanks,
Chris

Not gaming related, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a big attraction:

If you've listened to music in the past 50 years, you might find something there to entertain you.

If (and thats a big IF) you can get reservations go to Lola's. 2058 East 4th street. if not there, try Lolita's. same owner(he's an american Iron Chef) Both are high end, good food but expensive.

For excellent beer with food try Great Lakes Brewing. one of my favorite brewers with all kinds of good beers to choose from.

For a sandwich go to Slyman's Deli. little known fact, next to NYC, Cleveland has some of the best cornbeef on the planet.

Das shnitzel haus is another favorite, but i really like german food so i might be biased.

The Cleveland art museum is well worth a visit. It is one of the better collections and it is presented better than any other art museum I have been in.

It would be a shame to go to Cleveland and miss that.

As far as food goes I don't remember the name of either restaurant, so probably no help, but there was an amazing Polish place that served cafeteria style. The line went the whole way through the building and out the back. I think I waited for at least 30 minutes to get food but it was worth it.

There is, just east of the city, a taco place where you can design your own tacos and they were great.

Thanks guys. My last trip to Cleveland was for a weekend of baseball in 1992 and we were all students, so I think my food budget then was about $20 USD for three days. It's good to be an adult now!

Those food selections sound really good Jakse and Pictors; was that Polish place Sokolowski's? That's what a Google search turned up for "Polish cafeteria restaurant Cleveland" and the online reviews seem to back up your assessment.

I'll have to see how much free time we have for things like the Art Museum and RRHOF, I'd want to give them enough time, so that might have to be a future trip. I'm kinda bummed about missing Dayton and Canton, so I have reasons to do one.

Sokolowskis is the place Pictors was talking about.

Dayton is really worth a road trip. I think the USAF Museum is worth three days by itself. Less than that, you'll be rushed and you won't see everything.

Why not take a week, and come for the HMGS Great Lakes regional convention Advance The Colors, in Springfield, just up the road from Dayton?

Going thru the USS Cod is well worth it; and, the Cleveland Museum of Art is certainly worth considering -- as I recall, they have quite a nice armor collection there.
I agree with taking a visit to the Great Lakes Brewing company on the near west side -- great beer, try their Christmas Ale -- really tasty. It's close to the West Side market near W25th and Lorain.

So going to see The Browns.

There are better football teams out there.

True, but not the point of going.
