A collaboration between UK universities and the BBC : futurelearn.com/courses Anyone tried one ? There are several military topics (Agincourt, WWI airpower, etc). |

I tried one about Wellington & the Napoleonic Wars. While it certainly had interesting info, it seemed the course relied on the students participating in a lot of online discussions in the comment sections to provide more value to the course. I wasn't interested in trying to follow discussion threads or participate in them, so I ended up with the conclusion that I should have just read a book about Wellington. But I'm probably not the target audience for this type of course. & the course would have been more valuable if it had been covering a subject that wasn't so readily available. |

Thanks for the feedback – I was a bit concerned about the "online discussion" part of the courses I'd looked at. Maybe I'll try one though… |

I took part in a couple a year or 2 back and largely ignored the online discussion part…it didn't really make much difference as far as I could tell and I still enjoyed the courses. |

Thanks – maybe I should just risk one – it's only a few hours a week for a couple of weeks after all! |
