OK, This past weekend I tried to repair my damaged computer system by doing a reinstall of windows XP Pro. NOTE: Before any of you say, "why don't you use 'Windows 7,8, etc' Please note my machine is too old to efficiently take any of the new Windows versions.

What wound up happening was this: I managed to do a repair of windows but it replaced my original owner/admin controls with one marked, "Owner". Now my original files haven't been erased, just that command has been changed to a new setting. What I need to know is this: is there some way to restore my previous settings and controls or am I screwed. PLEASE NOTE that the previous Owner/Admin folders are properly full. They are not "Ghost images" with a couple of megs of placeholder data, but full folders with several hundered GIGs of data.

is your original stuff backed up?
if so a "factory" restore will take you back to the 1st boot and you can reclaim admin rights.

Can you find a recent restore point and reinstall that?
