A site called Softonic has a free download of Word 2007. I'm currently using Word 2003 which doesn't process some files from the later version.

Does anyone know if the Softonic download is OK? Hopefully it works as advertised and doesn't have any bugs.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I'd be very wary of downloading anything from that site.

If it's truly a legal download, get it from Microsoft. Failing that, probably better to use Open Office.

I suspect it will be fine but you will probably need a valid key to make it work after 30 days.

Open Office is the answer.

I don't know who Softonic is, but you have to ask why they, and not MS, are giving out free Word '07. Great way to spread a virus, sounds like. Wikipedia says Softonic is legit, but still…

Open Office runs on all platforms, gives you the full suite, is open source, up to date, free, solid.

Why not use Word Online for free. Otherwise use LibreOffice or OpenOffice

If a piece of expensive software is suddenly free, odds are you are either going to be breaking federal law or get your computer turned into a botnet ;-)
