i downloaded a mod for empire at war, called Republic at war, its a total conversation, moving the setting to the clone wars.
Play as the republic or as the trade federation.
The game takes place on 3 levels.
The galactic map, were you make ships, troops, move fleets ect.
The orbit battles, space battles over planets, with dozens of ships, from fighters to battleships. Very rock paper scissors. Some small ships are actually very good at taking on big ones, the standard bomber, in squadrons of 5 and 5 do alot of damage to battleships and space stations. You can traget subsystem on bigger ships and bases, like weapons, hangar bays, enhengines , shield generators.
So you can cripple ships and capture them ect.
Use bombers to take out shield generstors, the get in the heavy ships to finish the job.
Then planet atracks, there are two kinds, invasions and raids.
Raids are done with a hero unit and a few chosen troops.do some damage get out. Like take out defences before full invasion.
Full invasions are about taking or protecting the main base.
All planets are unique not only in terrain, but their strategic importance.
That water world that made the clones, can make unik clone trooper units that are bigger then normal units.
Another one makes cheaper captial ships.
Very fun with lots of layers.
