March madness or Life in My Cubicle and How to Embrace the Sound of Suck.

Background: During the month of March I was out sick a week (unheard of), then I was away for meetings 2 days, and I took a day off.
I was given three special tasks (Completed all 3)and was asked to prepare a briefing for an outside entity (Prepared coordinated waiting to launch).
I attended 6 hours of mandatory "training" and 7 other informal meetings with my micromanager with the 2 monthly HQ meetings, the bi-weekly management meetings, and every other crisis (when there is a crisis) meeting that they call (Which I attended 6, only one had any meaning to me at all whatsoever and could have been handled by e-mail).
Monday thru Thursday there is a 0845 meeting and Monday thru Friday there is a 0915 meeting so that everyone can know about everything else that long winded people like to talk about that has absolutely nothing to do with me.

My manager called me in and said – overall our numbers are up but…in March, we were credited for no %^67rtybv's in the region.

'Ok', I said and I regurgitated the background above to him. And I told him that I did five %^67rtybv's in March but they didn't post until April.

Well, your principal job is doing %^67rtybv's, said yon micromanager.

I agreed and asked him to stop calling me to meetings and to leave me alone in mornings and that I would get the %^67rtybv's completed. He thought about it.

Yesterday he left me alone all day until 4pm. I was able to finish an additional 5 %^67rtybv's.

But wait, if none were done for the region and there are 6 other persons in the region, 5 who work on %^67rtybv's part time and one who also does it full time. Hmmm

My overall production of %^67rtybv's is over half of the region total.

Just got a call…more obligatory training…on video computer link…
Oh joy.

Oh foolish man, thou seekest the rational in the house of madness. Abandon hope all yee who labor here.

Used to love those mandatory training sessions.

Was given a pass from them when I demonstrated that I
could quote large chunks of the dialogue from memory,
as could my employees…WOT in spades…

(WOT = Waste Of Time)

Streitax "Work will set you free" oh yes!

Ed I'll use that! – WOT – I actually said it to my manager yesterday …

When he said "Mandatory training tomorrow"
I said "WOT"…
he said "I said Mandatory training tomorrow"

Thanks!

I think I would find another job and tell him to eff-off…..

Easier said than done Cerdic, since I want to soak a bit of retirement out first. This manager will be gone within the year – off to that brain trust in the sky…headquarters
