10:15 Background: at the pre meeting before the Agency wide computer video tele-con for training with slides that were sent out earlier, sitting in with our manager. Manager: "We don't want everyone to input at the same time, hold your questions until the end and if you didn't send me your questions first then don't ask them because they won't be prepared as I had to send them the region questions two days ago." (He said it all in one breath) Everyone nods at our location. [this is the new sharing and clarity process training for the entire country] 10:30 Everyone across the country goes to sign in.. {a beep accompanies each individual signing in} So we all hear: Welcome to the {Beep} {Beep} {Beep} in which {Beep}{Beep} {Beep} {Beep} and we will {Beep} {Beep} {Beep} in case {Beep} {Beep} {Beep}… Now there are 180+ people all signing in, and it beeps after everyone signs in (or signs out)… After 160 more…{Beep} {Beep} {Beep} – and 10 minutes later… A curator of the training:…"Well we may have to start over with that , since several e-mails point to the fact that a few people didn't hear the initial presentation" Headquarter puke: "Make sure you e-mail your attendance to blah blah blah so that you can get accountability for this training block – so off we go…" Three hours later. I found out that sweat can pool in your ear as you listen. If you get up and go to the bathroom, no one knows you are gone. You can read yesterday's reports and not even have to pay attention at all. How did they project upside down slides? Oh …they didn't …it was me collapsed from exhaustion looking at the screen. Headquarters Puke #2: "A round of applause for our presenters and we will have to do this again next year, for those that missed the training, make sure they get the slides and send an e-mail that they read them, bye" {Beep} {Beep} {Beep}….. |

I like the idea of sending your questions in before you've had the training. |

You actually pay attention to those? I always take video calls in the privacy of my office so I can catch up on reading magazines. |

It could have been worse. They could have flown you all to the training…. |

…and now they want to do this for more enlightening facets of training. I can't believe they actually pay people to torture us like this. Nor can I believe they pay me to sit here and be tortured by this. Winston, – We have all games on our computers disabled. Believe me I have looked at every file during these presentations… Thank goodness my TMP is still accessible. |

in a monotone droning voice, looking at an "eye-strain" chart full of numbers too small to read: "These soybean futures numbers are self explanatory…so let me explain them to you…" Death by viewgraph.

It makes the case for owning a smartphone. I can catch up on e-mail and TMP. Or take a nap. |
