Well, rats. We knew that was approaching, but it's still sad. He created a character that left it's imprint on virtually everyone. He helped a lot of us grow up. The world is a better place for his contribution. RIP |

The man lived a long life and prospered. I'm sorry to see that he is gone. I was never a big star trek fan but did like the movies. |

I am so upset, I just blurted out the F word (I gave up profanity for Lent). I had the pleasure of meeting him when I worked at a bookstore. He was eating a pastrami sandwich and following his wife, commenting while she shopped for books. He was a fine actor, an even better director, a philanthropist, and good man. He will be missed. |

We shall never see his like again, but we are better for his having been with us, for the time we had him. |

One of the most memorable actors known and my favorite Vulcan. Also surprisingly funny. Rest in peace Mr. Nimoy. |

Was never a Trekkie, but always liked him in that role – in fact, I think all of the others could have been played by different actors, but can't see anyone else as Spock. He also replaced Martin Landeau as the master of disguises on Mission Impossible, and had some good movie roles, though never as a top billing. Rest well, and thanks. |

Was sad to hear this news – of all the Star Treks the original series was and remains my favourite – the interplay between Nimoy, DeForest Kelley and Shatner was always a joy. |

In the summer of 1983, I found out that Leonard Nimoy was to have hosted an informal chat in the Texas Hall auditorium at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), and that tickets were sold for a very small fee to see him. I immediately went to get one, but not without incident, namely the water pump bursting on my old white 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Classic (a.k.a. "The White Chariot"). Thankfully, I got it fixed well before the evening of his appearance. I was very excited to go that evening to see Mr. Nimoy, and I and the audience weren't disappointed. Of course, everyone wanted to know whether his character from 'Star Trek', "Mr. Spock", would be resurrected in the next film, 'Star Trek III: The Search for Spock'. With gentlemanly tact and a smile, he declined to answer those particular questions, but he was very kind to have answered many other questions and even brought some teaser photos of 'ST:III' (which he also directed). I can say that after the chat, the crowd and I left satisfied until the movie came out the next year and happy to have met the eternal "Mr. Spock". Godspeed, Mr. Nimoy, and thank you VERY, very much. |

Mr Nimey, thank you for the years, no decades, of entertainment. As Mr. Spock, you created a cultural icon that crossed generations. You have left a mark on millions of lives and will be missed. It is only logical. Godspeed. |

This news break was what greeted me on going to my 'puter, after sleeping almost all day. Down with a virus. I don't think that I like the connection very much! "I Am Not Spock." "I Am Spock." He was an actor in the right place at the right time. Most do not enjoy that blessing. I've wondered what Nimoy's feelings were for Alan Rickman's satiric portrayal of his character and person. (Almost iconic, imho, and done with appreciation.) They'll all be gone soon. That's why we enjoy "them" now…. |

I had the very great pleasure of having met Leonard Nimoy and Gene Roddenberry separately when they were on the college lecture circuit in the early 80's. Both were very nice both during and after the lecture. I was a huge fan of the series as a lad (well still to this day truth be told). Like so many others have mentioned, he will be missed. I was at the same lecture Saginaw attended btw. I saw Roddenberry at a lecture at Stephen F Austin State a few years before. Dave |

I heard the news on the way home from work and was stunned. While not a complete shock, it still hurt as much as when I heard of Neil Armstrong's passing. I thank you Mr. Nimoy for all the years of entertainment, inspiration and wisdom you have given us. May Peace be with you sir. Godspeed and Fair Winds. |

Very sad news indeed. I grew up with ST-TOS and loved it. I can remember fighting with my dad for control of the TV on nights the show aired. Dad never did understand the show's appeal. Today, it feels like I have lost a close friend although I never met Leonard Nimoy in person. I only knew him through his portrayal of Mr. Spock in TOS and the subsequent movies. He shall be missed. "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP." ~reported to be Leonard Nimoy's final tweet |

Just found this on Facebook from NASA:
The hand bestowing the Vulcan salute from on high belongs to American astronaut Terry Virts, currently aboard the International Space Station. If you look through the window closely, you can see the state of Massachusetts, and down there the city of Boston, where Leonard Nimoy was born. |
