It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Both comming out this year.

First up is Sourge of war Waterloo.

I've followed the developer Norb, since like 2005, I found the first game 1st bull run, and loved it, played it to death, got to test out 2nd manassas with the other 1st bull veterans.

The madminute game company fell apart, and nord started nordsoftdev, he released the sourge of war gettysburg, and the game has gotten lots of expantions. Now he and his men are tackling Waterloo, it will problebly be the base, with expantions dealing with other battles.

I know how the basic game will work, as it will be like gettysburg but adapted for Napoleoinc period.

Shot info on the game.

Real chain of command, play any level, play a brigade commander, just doing your part in the battle with your few thousand men, or be Napoleon at waterloo, or be any other place in the chain of command, be it division or corps commander.
Fantastic AI, best ai in any strategy game, some brigade or division commders are simply better then others like in real life. if you are napoleon you have to make sure Ney dosn't do anyhing rash ect.
Tens of thousands of soldiers, you can control how many sprites you see, the default is 1:4 but can be as low as 1:50 or if you are mad 1:1
Super detailed maps.
"story driven campaign" a battle normaly concists of sevral "actions" that happend during a battle, I'm guessing waterloo will be devided into sevral actions. as well as bigger parts, mabye even the full battle.

The next one is very diffrent

It's StarDrive 2

I loved the first stardrive, the second takes all that was good in the first one, and improved it. the big change is the change from total real time strategy, to turn based galaxy map with real time battles. It also adds turn based ground combat.
The game has fantatic gameplay, lots of humor and spectacular battles. You are free to design your own ships, you unlock a ship hull by research and then kit it out with, armor, shields, engiens, powerplants and weapons, lots of weapons. All of which is also stuff you unlock. The bigger the ship the more armor, shield and weapons you can put on it. Do you want a ship like the enterprise, fine kit it out with powerfull shields, phasors and photon torpedoes. Or do you want more oldschool? kit it out with HEAVY armor, rail guns, mass drivers, tropedoes and of course huge honking space canons. Or a mix of the two.

Play as the violent brutal nasty Vulfen, The green and happy Polyps, the honerbale samurai space bears that are kulrathi, humans, space squids, robot insects, devious draylocks, or slave owning cordrazine.

Stardrive 2 does look fantastic. I hope he can live down the negative press of Stardrive 1. I will probably snag it when it dips below 30% off.

I feel stardrive 1 gets to much bad press, he deliverd almost all his goals for the game, only reason it was not further patched was the support for the game engine stoped, and so zero could not do anything more.

Stardrive 1 is a new game(from 2013) yet it has become one of my all time favorites.

Narrator said the AI is improved, but I never saw the tank initiate combat with the two cruisers, despite getting in close. If he had his tank firing from the opening kick-off, would the fighters have been able to do more? Or how does the AI determine the threat level of possible targets?

The tanks does fire right from the start, it simply does not have anythnig big and fancy it fires, seems like basic laser cannon of some sort.
