I find 8.1 tolerable -- once you have spent the time to turn off all of the modern UI features.

get used to it now (had it preinstalled on my MSI notebook), just use a setting for "legacy" view and you can forget about all these smartphone-like nonsence ;)

It used to be the joke was that 8.1 of your previous apps were compatible.
