The British actor and bodybuilder, best known as the man who performed as the physically intimidating "Darth Vader" in the first three 'Star Wars' films, recently revealed his diagnosis:

As someone who had a couple of family members who suffered from it, I want to wish the VERY, very best to Mr. Prowse, and pray for peace and a long life for him.

And peace and all the help they need to his family.

Met him many years ago as The Green Cross Code Man….an absolute gent.

How terrible. His brawn coupled with James Earl Jones' voice made Darth Vader the ultimate villain in science fiction movies.

I wish him well and hope he can stay ahead of this terrible illness.

do not wish that on my worst enemy . Good luck and postive thoughts .

A very lovely man, met him years ago, before the Star Wars celebrity circuit became an industry. He was promoting his "Force against Arthritis" at the time and he had an original Darth Vader helmet on show that looked huge.

Very sad to hear this bad news, he's had a history of poor health and felt somewhat cheated for his contribution to Star Wars and this has led to some tension between him and Lucasfilm over the years.

I wish you the very best of luck Mr Prowse.

Got to meet the man some years ago at a sci-fi con here in Concinnati. And I got to talk with him, mentioning the Green Cross org. A fine bloke indeed. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

I use to go to school with his eldest son and visited his house often, had dinner with the family when I was growing up. A really nice man – and built like a brick house.

Lost touch with them after I went to Uni, great shame

His Green Cross Code man role is being reprised

Sad news.

He was great in Callan too – although again he had to be dubbed! YouTube link

Yes indeed, a lovely guy. Once had a very inebriated and funny evening with him and Kenny Baker. :)
