During this weekend I came across this quote;

"The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding onself in the ranks of the insane"

However when I read this to someone, they asked where the comma was. I beleive the worry was that what I said was

"The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority but to escape, finding onself in the ranks of the insane"

I leave you to draw your own conclusions…..

Bonus points if you can give the source of the quote

Shouldn't the 2nd coma be a semi colon?
