Also, the Dr. in NY that now has it, also doesn't recall any incident where his protective suit might have been breached, along with many of the other doctors and nurses stating the same, so……… ……..so that gives some the ability to assume that this virus can magically penetrate latex and nitrile gloves, plastic face shields and rubber suits. In all my years as a health professional, who deals with blood borne diseases on a daily basis, I have never heard of a virus that does. The fact that some people cannot remember the actual incidence is proof that humans have fallible memories, and not that the virus has super powers. It can be killed with normal household soap and cannot penetrate intact skin. Effective protocols to deal with Ebola, are no different than any other highly infectious blood and serum borne diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis. Lapses of which, in the case of Mr. Duncan, led to the infection of 2 of the nurses treating him. As was discovered by the CDC almost two weeks ago and admitted by the hospital administration last week. |

Bangorstu, well said. Two small comments. Technically, no Americans have died from the Ebola outbreak yet. Mr Duncan was a Liberian national with family in the US. Secondly, it seems that this outbreak is from a more virulent strain of Ebola than previous ones. That is in the nature of these things, unfortunately. |

I've seen the Kim Kadashian comment using 'Pat Robertson'. While there are apocalyptic predictions about thousands dead, these are because it is happening in Africa, where there is very little healthcare. It would have to kill 50,000 people in Africa to have the same per capita death rate as murders in the US. |
